» USS August Garrisoned at Obsidian Command

Posted on Sat Aug 12th, 2017 @ 8:33am by Captain Ovik in General News

While the official announcements and some of the IC pieces have not happened yet, the USS August is now a garrison vessel attached to Obsidian Command, our new home!

We will start posting there immediately, and I have set up the old August site to redirect folks to the OC site. We will retain this site indefinitely for an archive. Eventually we can shut the old August site down if need be.

So for those of you reading, continue following our story on the new OC site. For those of you on this sim, head over there now to continue writing!

» Crew's Choice Award for Mission

Posted on Mon Aug 7th, 2017 @ 1:25pm by Captain Ovik in General News

We only had two Crew's Choice Award nominees for this mission, which is disappointing but also understandable since not everyone knew each other very well. So I am happy to announce that both nominees will receive the award.

Congratulations to Romulan Attache Eilaea (Reilyn) and Special Operative Latida (Paul)!

They will have these awards in the OC sim as well, and in the new Obsidian Fleet system once that syncs up and gets fully developed.

Well done, and hopefully we can make it more competitive next mission. :)

» New Obsidian Command Website

Posted on Thu Aug 3rd, 2017 @ 9:58am by Captain Ovik in General News

Folks, as we convert the sim over to Obsidian Command, we will need to sign up at the new site. So please in the next couple weeks, sign up at the link below. You can just copy and paste all your content from your character here on the August and your images should already be uploaded for you.

The next mission, "New Tour Orders", will be some downtime for us, but it will also cover the transition to OC. Look for a post soon between Ovik and Admiral Sharr, as well as one with Ovik and D'arf. I will be posting those on both sites for now until everyone is moved over.

If you are not moved over in the next two weeks, I will be forced to cut access and could let someone else move into your position. Now that we are growing in IC size, I will be opening things up a bit (e.g., Marines, Fighter Wing, get some more Tactical folks, etc).

So let's have some fun with this transition. Remember we get to keep the August as our Garrison vessel. But we have a lot of room to grow on the station as well!

» Obsidian Day Tomorrow

Posted on Fri Jul 28th, 2017 @ 11:27am by Captain Ovik in General News

Folks, I know I've not said much about this yet, but Obsidian Fleet is having a celebration of community and other achievements. We're calling it Obsidian Day and you can find out more on the website.

I would encourage you to come and check things out. It will give you a sense of where we're at as a community, and where we want to go. Our sim is pretty tightly knit, which I love. But OF is trying to make that commonplace within the entire fleet.

Stop by the OF Discord server tomorrow if you have some time!

» Three Things for you to do ASAP

Posted on Sun Jul 23rd, 2017 @ 1:54pm by Captain Ovik in Out of Character

I have a few things for you all to do for me and the command team ASAP. First, send a note to me and D'arf on your overall status. A couple of you are LOA, a couple AWOL, and I need to know as we move forward. So just send a PM or Discord DM and let me/us know.

Second, we need to nominate someone for Crew's Choice. Do not nominate D'arf or me, as we are not eligible. Select someone from this mission, particularly the last couple months, who has just done an excellent job and has been active. I hope to see a nomination from every single one of you who are active, so hop to it. I will be announcing these after the end of the month.

Last, I want you all to engage in a JP of sorts to wrap up this mission. A few of you are in the official wrap-up one, but some of you need to be in another one or two. For instance, a sickbay JP would be good for anyone hurt. An Engineer/Tactical/Ops/Helm meeting would be good to discuss damages. Another one might be for our Romulan friends to be in discussions with Ryland and D'arf/Ovik/Ehriria. Plenty of opportunities here.

So basically, get items one and two done ASAP - like this week. Then work on the third item over the next week or two.

You guys are awesome, and we will be moving on to great things. First we will have a "break" mission as we travel to Starbase 39 and/or Obsidian Command stardock. I'll ping you all on that in the next few days. Then we have a new mission arc ready to go, so look for info on that as well.

Again, love you guys - let's rock the rest of this mission!

The first hint of the successful change of location as they materialized in the August's transporter room had been the air; fresh and clear (at least as much as recirculated air could be) without the tang of sulfur, dust, and weapons fire as Eilaea drew in a breath. She took…

T'Relsu and his comrades, the Remans included began to spread out and form cover. No sooner had they formed a skimpy defense perimeter, with the help of the Federation officers, than their assailants were upon them.
